Boys Are Gross. And Kind of Dumb.

I have a girl who works for me, I'll call her "A". Mostly because that's her first name initial and I'm not that creative. Anyway, A turned 18 a few months ago and graduated in June. She postponed college for a semester (she changed her mind about the school she had decided to go to- and since I went to the same school for a semester and know exactly how much it cost wayyyyy back then, I don't blame her). So she starts in January.

A works two jobs; for my store, and for a pretty popular clothing store for teens. Let's call it "Hollister".

Hollister is like some kind of incestuous dating pool.

Anyway, A was dating this boy, David*, and he broke up with her because he found someone more willing to perform certain oral stuff. Please understand what I'm trying to say here, because I'm already blushing and can't be any more detailed than that.

A was pretty upset about it, but it's been several weeks, and she was starting to hang out casually with other people.

One guy that works there, Andy*, stops in our store all the time when A is working. I didn't mind, because he was always super polite and sweet, and usually helped her fold while they chatted for five or ten minutes. I'll take free labor any day of the week. Especially since they are folding beasts at Hollister, and my store looks better for their talent/ training....

I have been trying to convince A that Andy likes her. She was in some serious denial, and I kept insisting that boys do not just happen to drop into children's clothing stores "just because". He has to just finish up his last year of high school, but then they're both off to the same college.

Cute, right?

Not so freaking much.

Andy told A the other day that he was attracted to her and kind of like- liked her, but that he wanted to hook up first and then he would consider "talking" to her. 

Apparently "talking" is code for casually date.

So she told me all of this. And now?

Andy is banned from the store.

Because who says that? And what girl thinks that it's OK if they do? And who are these girls that accept that they're only worth that? And where are their male role models that in the past didn't step up to the plate to make them see that dating and love isn't about hooking up first and then seeing where it goes?

Gross.

Luckily, A is smarter than that. She knows she's better off without guys like that in her life, and she knows that she deserves someone that wants to "talk" for as long as she wants to "talk" before there is any hooking up to be done.

And if she didn't know all that before yesterday, then she got to hear me rant about it for 45 minutes.

Somewhere in my tirade, I may have even threatened to punch Andy in his stupid Hollister face.


Ugh.
